Mediation is a voluntary, confidential process whereby a neutral, third person called a mediator acts to facilitate and support the resolution of a dispute between two or more parties. Mediation is an informal and non-adversarial process, with the objective of helping the disputing parties reach a mutually acceptable and voluntary agreement.
The Mediation Process
The role of the mediator includes,
but is not limited to:

Assisting parties in identifying issues
Fostering joint problem solving
Enhancing communication
Exploring settlement alternatives
In Mediation, decision-making authority rests with the parties.
A mediator does not decide who is right or wrong, nor do they decide how parties will resolve their disputes. Instead, the mediator finds solutions that make sense for all parties involved in the dispute.
